It is with profound sadness that the Lexington community mourns the passing of Mrs. Penny Toogood. Mrs. Toogood passed away earlier this week after a lengthy illness and we extend our deepest condolences and our thoughts and prayers to the entire Toogood family.
Mrs. Toogood was a vibrant, dedicated teacher who brought such positivity and joyfulness to our school. She was committed to her students and took the time to build meaningful relationships with all of them. Mrs. Toogood was focused each and every day on doing everything she could to support the children in her care and enhance their experiences here at school. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Toogood embraced any opportunity to immerse herself in school life and she happily devoted her time and talents to a variety of activities, including the school choir.
Being part of the Lexington family was a cherished opportunity for Mrs. Toogood and her presence brightened our school for students and staff alike. She was a trusted colleague and a dear friend to many and her passing will be deeply felt by our entire community.
Along with our Social Worker, members of the WRDSB’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff.
In honour of Mrs. Toogood, the flags at Lexington and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast this week.
Please be sure to check in with your child in the days to come. If you have any concerns about your child requiring additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school.
