October 6-10, 2014 is International Walk to School (IWALK) Week and Wednesday October 8, 2014 IWALK Day (an annual fall walk to school day). Lexington P.S. is going to join with students and families from 40 countries participating in IWALK.

IWALK is a global annual, premier event of the Active & Safe Routes to School program. It is a mass celebration of active transportation involving children and youth that aims to increase daily physical activity, improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, and decrease air pollution, while developing community cohesion and social interaction.

Both the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board in partnership with the Active and Safe Routes to School (ASRTS) committee work together to promote safe, walkable communities. This group engages schools and their communities to work together to make safe walking routes a reality for all children.

See you out there walking to school!
